Final Thesis:Blog #5

Hello everyone! Since blog #4, I've had plenty of time to work on my thesis project. We had like a 2nd winter break because of the snow :). I was pretty bored through most of it so I just did a piece of my thesis each day and ended up completing it. So yea I did complete it on time. Now I'm to the point where I just need to make everything look neat, clean up the glue work, etc. I attached this wire that I found in the art cabinet today at school and I feel like it worked very well because it has movement and could be manipulated how I wanted. Not to stiff but not to loose at the same time.

So if you don't already know, my artwork is based on the idea of having intrusive relationship thoughts which means obsessive doubts that an individual has over the suitability of their relationship with another individual. I created these heads to show a visual representation of what that would look like. Having the wire attached from eye to eye shows the uncertainty about the relationship, how they get so wrapped up in what the other person is doing. ( On the middle head I forgot to attach eyes but it went right along with the concept haha )

Not much feedback was given for the critic today. I just need to clean up what I have and I'll be good to go. I actually like how it turned out actually. It was pretty much what I envisioned. I'm most proud of my ability to work from scratch starting with the aluminum foil and building it with the clay for it only being my second time working with that type of material. I'm also proud of how I continued to move forward even when I did have an obstacle and always had an alternative for an idea that I didn't think would work.

I've been looking at a lot of Chris Pye's wood carving for some reason. It reminds me of the wood carvings I have in my house that I used for inspiration on my last blog post. His work and the way that its carved reminds me of the way I smoothed out the clay and left rough edges to give it a not so realistic look so I found that cool
