Coming to you live:Blog #2

Good morning, Good afternoon, Goodnight! Wherever you are reading this, HELLO! Update.. I have decided to continue my project on intrusive relationship thoughts because why not? It's actually a very interesting topic and everybody can relate. Plus, I've only been researching this and not considering anything else so might as well continue right?

I plan on utilizing 3-D sculpture and GIF design as a representation of intrusive relationship thoughts. For the sculpture aspect of the project, I want to use sculpey clay to create a 3-D portrait of a couple – man and woman, looking into each other‘s eyes. I want to make the sculpture look real as possible so I will use flesh tones. I want to use some type of LED or laser lights to project across so that it portrays connection between the two people. The materials I will be using consists of a needle tool, wire loop tool, small spatula tool, small filbert brush for blending, and aluminum foil. I will use the aluminum foil for the shaping of the head and then cover it with the clay because it will give the head structure, strength, and will save the amount of clay that will need to be used. After both sculptures get baked, I will paint them with acrylic paint to add shadow and highlight depth. The final touch will be the hair and LED lights. I will most likely use yarn and hot glue them onto the sculptures after I have baked them. As for the LED/laser lights, I will hot glue them into the dented eye spots. Pretty cool right? For the GIF design aspect, I want to show the emotional roundabout of the individuals just to get a moving visual to go along with the sculpture. I will most likely end up drawing and constructing the couple on paper, scanning it, and then playing with color before I start the movement. There will be movement in the lips and eyes of both characters while going around. I want the sculptures to be displayed on 2 different wood pedestals facing each other in front of the GIF so people can see both in one space.

The one and only thing I am struggling with is the size I want the sculptures to be. I don't want to go way to big and don't have any more clay left or go too small and get point taken off. If you have any advice, please let me know!!

I've also been looked up some cool sculptors that inspire me for this project. One that stood out to me was Michael Zajkov. Zajkov is a professional doll polymer clay sculptor who specializes in sculpture. . I would see his work on Instagram and thought it was freakishly cool how he molded and manipulated the dolls to be able to function with the 13 removable parts.I’m using him as one if my references because he's the one who inspired me to use polymer/sculpey clay in the first place. I would see his work on Instagram and thought it was freaky cool how he molded and manipulated the dolls to be able to function with the 13 removable parts. Since he sculpts dolls realistically, I figured that would be a great reference on how to create a realistic face.

If you want to view some of his work here is the link: http://www.dollery.com/html/artists/Zajkov/Zajkov-mm.htm

Thanksss for reading this..if you actually did :) Byeeee
